◆Volunteer Information:

Volunteer orientation and activities are conducted over two-day sessions (Monday-Tuesday, Wednesday-Thursday, and Saturday-Sunday, with a rest day on Friday). However, you are also welcome to extend your participation for longer than two days. Should you wish to do so, please include the date that you wish to extend your stay to in your application.

- Starting time :
Sessions beginning on a weekday – 8:00am
Sessions beginning on Saturday – 9:00am

- Meeting place:
Peace Boat Center, Ishinomaki (http://pbv.or.jp/ishinomaki-psen/form/)

- Finishing time:
5:00pm on the last day of activities.

  • Please note that the starting time may vary depending on the scheduled activities.
  • After arrival at the Peace Boat Center Ishinomaki, orientation will commence. Orientation includes explanation of the day’s activities, formation of teams and submission of required documents etc (approximately 1.5 hours).
  • Activities will only be run on days mentioned in the schedule above.

Details of weekly rest-day:
Every Friday is a scheduled rest-day from volunteering activities. Although no activities will be held, those participating in earlier or later sessions are welcome to stay and use this day as free-time. If you decide to extend your stay at the Peace Boat accommodation site until Friday, you will be asked to vacate by 8pm.

Terms and Conditions of Participation:
Those wishing to register as a volunteer are required to:

  • Make their own way to Ishinomaki (Meeting/departure point: Peace Boat Center Ishinomaki) Map(http://pbv.or.jp/ishinomaki-psen/form/)
  • Comply with the schedule of activities as mentioned above (extension of participation is welcome)
  • Pay a fee of ¥500/per night if staying at the Peace Boat accommodation site
  • Be covered by volunteer insurance (including natural disasters). Please note that if you do not have appropriate insurance, you may not be able to participate.   • You must be between 16 – 65 years of age, or provide the designated consent form (if younger than 16). Please take care not to lose your consent form as you will not be able to participate if you cannot provide it on the day.

Points to note:

  • Transport from Peace Boat Center Ishinomaki to volunteering activity locations is provided
  • Each volunteer is responsible for their own food and bathing supplies etc during their stay
  • Activities are subject to weather conditions
  • Day One:
    • Please prepare food supplies for the first day of activities prior to your arrival
    • Please prepare your accommodation fee and all necessary documents for submission at orientation (volunteering application, consent form, certificate of volunteer insurance etc)
  • Day Two:
    • For those departing immediately after volunteering activities:

When booking your return-tickets (bus, train etc) please allow enough time for travel from the Peace Boat Center and for changes in traffic conditions etc.

*PBV cannot take responsibility for delays caused by traffic etc, so please take care.
